HOSTED VOIP SYSTEMS
A hosted voip system is where the PBX or main switch is located off premise. All you need is internet service and a hosted provider. The phones for the office are either purchased or leased M-M or up to a 3 year contract. The longer the contract the better the deals. Benefits of hosted are lower upfront costs plus features such as mobile app , voice mail , unlimited long distance and your own personal direct phone line.
Hosted isn't the best choice for all businesses. I wouldn't recommend hosted for every business. If you have more than 20-30 employees then a system with an onsite PBX switch will offer increased internal flexibility of call flow.
Digital Phone Systems
Digital Phone Systems are the most common commercial phone systems still used today. I would estimate digital systems make up 70% of the PBX market. However that number is is being reduced daily. Digital systems can use analog , FXS, Magic Jack , and Comcast modem lines as their source of dial tone for the phone system. Digital phone systems will continue to be around for many years to come. In addition a digital phone system with the correct hardware can accommodate a PRI circuit which is 23 channels (similar to 23 lines)
Hybrid Phone Systems
A Hybrid phone system can use the same lines as a digital system but in addition can work with internet applications such as VOIP / SIP lines and SIP extensions. Hybrid phone systems are an excellent choice because it gives you the best of both worlds. Hybrid systems are perfect if you have a primary office and a handful of individuals who need to work from home. All the phones in the office could be digital and anyone who needed to work from home would have the VOIP phones. I'm a huge fan of Hybrid phone systems
VOIP Phone Systems
A VOIP phone system or PURE IP system is a phone system that solely uses the internet to make and receive calls . The major benefit of VOIP phone systems is not so much what it does inside your office but the portability of your business lines outside your office. You can access your business line on your cell phone or anywhere on the road. Voip phone systems tend to have a lower startup cost. If you have multiple locations using VOIP is a great way to link all your locations together on one platform. VOIP phones also tend to have large screen display which allows the use of simple one touch applications.
